Yes, Ilene understood she was breaking the rules. She knew that she was very likely to get some sort of detention for her little outing. She didn't care.

What the young girl did care about, however, was getting a glance at the moon. The Astronomy Tower, although it admittedly had a better view, was far too risky. In any case, she needed some air. The little Gryffindor was getting stir crazy up in her tower.

"Perfect," she muttered and headed for a sturdy oak by the lake. She set up her small telescope and focused it on the left side of the moon. It was a nice full moon, so she didn't need a light to draw. Her quill scratched the parchment as she contentedly sketched the craters on the moon, checking through the telescope frequently.

Ilene never could understand what drew her to the night sky. Perhaps it was always a sort of comfort, the only constant during her old life in Greece. She hummed softly as she worked, glad to be free.

Samantha was less then thrilled when she found that she was to do the outside student watch amongst the Prefects. "Those insolent, toad-gobbling, wart licking pricks!" she muttered angrily as she stepped out into the cold winter air. "They're only jealous because I'm a shoe in to being House Girl." she continued. She wrapped her scarf tighter around herself, and buried her hands into her robes. "When I do get chosen, they best watch their ba-" she cut herself off. She could've sworn she had seen a glimmer of glass near the lake. She stopped for a moment looking, to find a sillohuete in the distance. She marched over to the lake in record timing. "Well well. What do we have here?" she asked in a bitter tone as she looked down upon the girl before her.

Ilene glanced around. A blonde older girl stood looking at her. "Uh, sorry. I just needed to do this Astronomy homework and get some fresh air," she apologised quickly and returned to her sketching. She might as well get this homework done before she got a detention.

The girl finished in record time. "Um, will you quickly check this, please? I'm not quite sure about the placement of the Mare Serenitatis. Do you think I should move it more to the left?" Ilene passed the drawing up to the girl. After all, she was a Prefect, maybe she'd help her. Even if she was a Slytherin. But Ilene had met a couple of Slytherins who were helpful in their snooty manner, so she decided not to judge. Thankfully she was not in Gryffindor, so the whole house rivalry did not exactly apply. Ilene stood up and drew her cloak around her small body, waiting to see what the girl would do. Hopefully she'd return it.

Samantha rolled her eyes and sighed. "Listen, I'm not exactly in the best mood." she started in a cold voice. "I'm not going to help you with homework that involves you break various Hogwarts rules and regulations. Especially since your Astronomy professor willingly hands out notes excusing this sort of behavior beforehand. Which, thankfully leave me no choice but to give you detention. The minimal consequence for this is usually two detentions. However since you actually expected me to help aid your night of insubordination, I will be giving you the highest consequence. Five nights of detention with Filch. Is that understood?" she finally finished, breathing in deeply. She looked down at the girl before her and handed the assignment along with a small slip of parchment over. She raised a single brow, awaiting an answer.

"Okay, fine then." It wasn't as though Ilene had not expected it; it was what came from sneaking out of one's dorm and having some prankster hiding most of her stuff, including her notes. Or maybe she simply lost it. Nah, somebody took it.

She gathered her telescope and other things with her and took off for some distance, her head held high. It sounded as though the girl was simply happy to give her detention. With her face safely turned away, she flinched at having to stay five separate evenings with Filch. Just my luck... But it wasn't as though I didn't practically ask for it. The blonde simply shrugged and looked up at the night sky. She stopped for a moment; where is Orion now? She smiled ruefully as she found it over on the horizon and waved goodbye to Betelguese.

Samantha watched until the girl was about twenty feet away. She looked out towards the forest. She thought for a moment about whether or not she should take a quick walk, but decided against it. She turned around and saw the girl whom she'd just assigned detention waving to the sky. "That's odd" she mumbled to herself. She felt bad for assigning such a harsh punishment, but it had already been done. "Excuse me?" she called out to the girl as she took a few more steps. She cleared her throat and repeated herself with much more volume. "Excuse me?" she boomed, waiting for the girl to respond.

She was close to the door when she heard Samantha's second call. "Eh, what?" she said. "Yes?" she shouted loudly, hoping the girl would hear her. She put down her things, walked closer and once she was within proper speaking distance, asked "Is there any problem?"

Ilene thought back. Oh, it was probably because of my waving goodbye to that star. Wait, was that wrong? she wondered. The first-year shrugged delicately and walked slightly closer. Samantha appeared to be quite frazzled. Why is that? She can't be so stressed over little old me, could she? If she was, then she had just a tiny bit of a problem. Just a small one. Oh well. It wasn't her problem, anyway. Ilene cast one glance at the lake, a beautiful silvery white in the gentle moonlight.

Samantha pushed her hair out of her face, tucking it behind her ear in one smooth motion. She walked a bit faster to catch up with the small girl. "Regulations say I have to walk you back to your common room. What house are you in?" she asked clearly. The cold wind bit at her face and she pulled her scarf around her neck once more. She was trying to be more friendly, but it wasn't any easy task for her. She had, after all been raised by a family of Death-Eaters. Her face had taken on a darkness that was almost permanent. She tried to smile, but she could tell that it would turn out as more of a wicked grin. She finally was beside the small girl. Samantha looked down at her and waited for a response.
