| Good Morning Students,
Welcome to term! Isn’t this exciting? How about we have some fun? Since St. Patrick’s Day is closing in fast, I thought it would be a great idea to create a new magical plant to take the place of the shamrock, a three-leaved plant. This plant could either be in existence in the magical world, or if you feel like inventing then please do.
The house who participate the most gets an extra 20 points
Part 1: 30 points 1. What is the name of your plant? 2. Is your plant magical or muggle? 3. What does it look like? 4. Where does it grow, please explain why. 5. Are muggles able to grow it? 6. Why have you chosen this plant, please explain. 7. Does this plant have any enemies? 8. Explain why type of soil it grows in. 9. Does it have to grown a certain way? 10. How is it harvested?
Part 2: 20 points Bonus: Please provide an image of your plant, including its name and properties. |

| 1. What is the name of your plant? My plant is called the Leprechan-Rainbow plant.2. Is your plant magical or muggle? My plant is magical...cannot be seen for what it is by muggles (explained below)3. What does it look like? My plant has long, bendy green leaves and stem to allow it not the break in even the strongest winds (leaves used the help keep it balanced), with a large, rainbow coloured flower. Every St Patricks day, the rainbow flower is replaced by a gold galleon...but don't get too excited...because it is a leprechan gold galleon, and on that day, a rainbow can always be seen near the flower in the sky...for no apparent reason (no sun, or rain needed here!!)...the galleon will disappear after a few hours.4. Where does it grow, please explain why. They grow only in Ireland...because a long time ago, a Leprechan took pieces of a rainbow, and mixed them in with some Irish soil and sprinkled his magic on it, and then planted a pansy bulb in the soil...and when the plant grew, he dewitched it, so it would only grow in Irish soil. He sprinkled the seeds from the plant in various parts of Ireland, to make the plant rare...yet not too rare that one will never see one. He also put an enchantment on the plant, so only wizards my see it for what it is, and another one, so no one could pull it up from the earth from which it grew. Each plant will only yield three seeds a year...5. Are muggles able to grow it? No...it can only be seen by people with magic running through there veins, and muggles will see them as just ordinary wild pansies...6. Why have you chosen this plant, please explain. I have chosen this plant because it seems interesting, and because...well...it's incredibly Irish and shows how we wizards in Ireland have got just as much interest in herbology as the rest of the wizarding world do...maybe even more.7. Does this plant have any enemies? The plant has no known mortal enemies...except for the poor, who think they're in luck at being able to pluck a galleon off a plant...but sadly, the galleon will disappear...8. Explain what type of soil it grows in. This plant only grows on Irish soil because of the enchantment put upon it.9. Does it have to grown a certain way? Every St Patricks day, the rainbow coloured flower will grow as a Leprechans gold Galleon. The wing blows the three seeds that grow from the flower each year to different parts of Ireland, where it will grow fruitfully.10. How is it harvested? This plant cannot be harvested by anyone. No muggle or wizard my pull it from the ground due to the enchantment placed upon it by that leprechan. Above, see a picture of the plant. The left side of the diagram is how you see the plant and it's surroundings on a normal day, and on the right, is how we see the plant and it's surroundings on St Patricks day. | 1. What is the name of your plant? Goldein-Trepid2. Is your plant magical or muggle? Magical3. What does it look like? To anyone that didn't know about it it would appear to be a normal plant, a bit like a daisy, but about ten times the size.4. Where does it grow, please explain why. It grows only once a year, on St. Patricks day and it can grow anywhere in Ireland aslong as there's grass and fresh soil. After it's done it's time it will slowly shrivel back into the ground, and for a while a few scatterings of gold are left around, but these soon sink down into the ground and form bulbs that will grow into Goldein-Trepids the next year. The plants that have shrivelled just leave their bulbs too, so they will also grow the next year. Unless the plant was too badly harmed while being harvested, in which case it will never sprout again. 5. Are muggles able to grow it? Only if they're able to get their hands on some of the dust!6. Why have you chosen this plant, please explain. It is a unique plant, that incorporates a little bit of Ireland, and shows how they in themselves are unique and special.7. Does this plant have any enemies? Only those that cause it harm when they too greedily harvest the gold.8. Explain why type of soil it grows in. It grows in fresh soil, with plenty of nutrients and requires a good amount of water and sunlight.9. Does it have to grown a certain way? Not really, it only flours on St. Patricks day, then after that it shrivels and it's bulb waits until next time to grow again.10. How is it harvested? By gently shaking the dust off the leaves. A picture of the plant, as you can probably tell I'm not the greatest on paint, but for this it's Okay I hope. The laptop's playing up today, so if the image seems to small, click on it and it will be enlarged, sorry about the invonvenience. Okay, hope this is good enough. Rebecks. _________________ Slythery Slytherin! Bottoms up!
