VACANCY

Due to other commitments, our Ancient Runes Professor is taking a step back from moderator duties for a while, which leaves an opening for the position.

If you would like to apply for the position, please do so below.

* You must be at least 2nd year to apply
* You must be prepared to create and grade classes regularly
* You must have a fair head ie: you must be able to grade fairly no matter what house you belong to.
* You must have good knowledge of the rules and running of the site and keep to these rules at all time. Professors jobs can not be given to members who break the rules as they are here for the safety and fun of everyone.

If you are already a professor and wish to apply for this position, please mention in the post whether you will want to keep your original position as well as taking on this position.

I am applying for this potion; I’m over 2nd year and I’m very active on the site, I’m mostly on the evenings giving me time to prepare class and marking them. To me Ancient Runes, has to be the most interesting class to prepare classes, they is so much Varity of ideas to chose from, even though little is known about the subject yet I believe I have an understanding of the subject.

Class example: Explaining Ancient Runes.

In no more then 500 words, I want you to explain to me what are the purposes of Ancient runes? What are the advantages and disadvantages of the subject? For this class I’m willing to give over 100 points for this class.

Why I want the job and what I can offer is a simple matter really. Being a member of HE since its inception has always been a wonderful experience for me. I’ve met life long friends that I can count on and I’ve discovered and helped build the foundation. HE is a place where people from across the globe with all different backgrounds and cultures where they can come together under one banner—the world of Harry Potter. When I first came here I had titles across the board. I was the first Head of Ravenclaw, I helped to run and organize the dueling and Qudiditch threads, and I was the original professor of Ancient Runes. Unfortunately life took its toll and I had stepped down but now things are different and I feel that I can return and help to aid a cornerstone that has helped me develop as a person. It even helped me to realize that one day I want to teach. So you ask what I can offer—my experience, my devotion, and perhaps bring a bit of the old that made HE great and unite it with all its new designs and members.

Runes and Tolkien

Background: References of runes have had a constant presence in pop culture, but none more so than in J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings saga. The purpose of this exercise is to illustrate Tolkien’s use of the ancient art of runes and to gain a better understanding of why it was used.
